Dragon Boat Festivals in Thailand

Pattaya Dragon Boat Festival Nov 22 - 23rd 2013

The Dragon Boat Festival for International Schools will be staged over one day. The Pattaya Dragon Boat Festival is to be held at The Ocean Marina Boat Show in Jomtien on November 23rd 2013.

Day 1 (22nd November) Students will arrive in the afternoon and set up tents or go to their hotel accommodation by late afternoon.

Day 2 (23rd November) will start with a training session in the morning followed by a Dragon Boat Competition in afternoon. The teams will race over a 200m course. Times will be taken and the fastest eight teams will enter the semi-finals. The fastest 4 will then qualify for the Finals.Medals will be presented to the winning Teams Gold, Silver and Bronze. The International Schools Dragon Boat Trophy will be presented by our sponsor to the winning team.

Phuket Dragon Boat Festival April 2014

The Phuket Festival will run over three days. The Phuket Dragon Boat Festival will be staged in April in 2014 at Songkran.This is the Thai New Year.

Day 1 will be a competition for International Schools. The teams will race over a 200m course. Times will be taken and the fastest eight teams will enter the semi-finals. The fastest 4 will then qualify for the Finals.Medals will be presented to the winning TeamsGold, Silver and Bronze. The International Schools Dragon Boat Trophy will be presented by our sponsor to the winning team.

Day 2 will be a Cardboard Boat Race Competition for International Schools, Open Teams and Corporate Teams. The teams will have two hours to make boats out of cardboard, tape and plastic sheet. The Competition will start at 1300 and all production will cease at 1600.

The Cardboard Boat Race begins at 1530 . All teams will select 4 contestants (2 per leg) to race their boat across the lake to a flag. The race is a relay race with two legs. The first crew race their boat across the lake around the flag, and back. Then crews change amnd the second crew race their boat around the same course. The fastest 3 teams will then qualify for the Medals. These will be presented to the winning Teams - Gold, Silver and Bronze. The International Schools Dragon Boat Trophy will be presented by our sponsor to the winning team.

Day 3 will be a competition for Corporate Teams. The teams will race over a 200m course. Times will be taken and the fastest eight teams will enter the semi-finals. The fastest 4 will then qualify for the Finals.Medals will be presented to the winning TeamsGold, Silver and Bronze.
